The Minoa Fountain at Delos, that is mentioned at the inscriptions and was identified with an anaglyph dedicated to the Minoan Nymphs, is a public cistern, sculptured on the natural rock, at the second half of the 6th century B.C. It was roofed with a square building, open to the south side, where there was a Dorian ‘stoa’. On the south side there were also steps, from which there were descending to reach the water level. The fountain was in use till the later Hellenistic period, when it was transformed into a residence.
