The calculation of evaporation and potential evapotranspiration is crucial for the accurate estimation of water balances across water bodies and river basins. At the same time, their calculation requires a large amount of meteorological data. For this reason, many efforts have been made to estimate evaporation and potential evapotranspiration values using methods that require less input data. Within the framework of this study, a preliminary investigation was initially conducted using primary data from 20 stations of the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS). This stage included the application of an existing parametric equation, as well as the introduction of a modification to it. Subsequently, the primary data were used to calibrate the satellite data that were obtained and employed in the secondary investigation. The aim of this second stage was the development of an improved parametric equation, as well as the re-determination of its parameters.
