Remarks:
The book is one of the oldest works on hydraulics in modern Greece. The author, Petros Protopapadakis (1858–1922), was a professor of Maritime and Hydraulic Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (then the School of Industrial Arts, 1889–90), as well as at the military academies for the Hellenic Army and Hellenic Navy, and Director of the Corinth Canal Excavation Works. He served as Prime Minister in 1922. Following the Asia Minor Catastrophe, he was tried in the so-called Trial of the Six, sentenced to death, and executed by firing squad in Goudi on November 28, 1922.
