In the last twenty years, the water supply of the wider area of Athens (Attica) is provided through a complex administration system. In this system, apart from the main management organisation, which is the Water Supply and Sewerage Company of Athens (EYDAP), they participate both the private sector and the municipalities. Through the years, the dispersion of responsibilities has led to unbalanced development. Moreover, the lack of proper pricing policy resulted in growth of water consumption and lack of proper administration of the capital's water resources. The thesis describes the water supply conditions concerning the municipalities that surround the capital, which have autonomous municipal or local distribution networks and the perspectives for the future.
