Awards and honours of Itia's members and students

2022

The diploma thesis entitled  "Spatiotemporal clustering of streamflow extremes and relevance for flood insurance" by Konstantinos Papoulakos was bestowed the First Award of the Greek Hydrotechnical Society.

2021

Romanos Ioannidis was honoured with the award of the Metsovian Centre of Interdisciplinary Research for the best journal publication on issues of Integrated Development in of mountainous continental and island areas.

2020

Georgia Papacharalampous was honoured with the international Dimitris N. Chorafas Foundation award as one of the two best doctoral students of the National Technical University of Athens for year 2020.

2018

Olympia Daskalou, Panagiotis Dimitriadis, Georgios Karakatsanis, Ioannis Markonis, Georgia Papacharalampous, Aristotelis Tegos, Aikaterini Tzouka were honoured with the Thomaideio prize (or honorary praise) for their work in scientific journals or conferences in 2016.

2017

Romanos Ioannidis received the Oikopolis award in the Water category for his diploma thesis.

Ioannis Tsoukalas received the Oral Presentation Award of the CEST2017 conference.

2016

Romanos Ioannidis was honored with the best diploma thesis Award of the Foundation for Development of the MEKDE. of NTUA in the field of "Protection and Integrated Development of Mountain Areas and Promotion of Local European Cultures".

Romanos Ioannides was awarded a scholarship, after examinations, by the Eugenides Foundation for his Ph.D. thesis.

2015

Panagiotis Dimas received the SMYE award for his diploma thesis.

Ioannis Tsoukalas received the SMYE award for his diploma thesis.

Theodoros Mastrotheodoros who conducted a diploma thesis with Itia was honored with the "Dimitriou, Konstantinou and Vassiliou Kontodemou" Prize for his performance as student in the academic year 2012-13

2014

Demetris Koutsoyiannis was awarded the International Hydrology PrizeDooge medal (2014) by the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) with the UNESCO and the World Meteorlogical Organization (WMO) for outstanding and fundamental contributions to the science of hydrology.

Demetris Koutsoyiannis was awarded the Lorenz Lecture by the American Geophysical Union (San Franscisco, USA).

Demetris Koutsoyiannis was awarded the Lectio Inauguralis, by Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá, Colombia).

Andreas Efstratiadis received the Editor's Citation for Excellence in Refereeing by Water Resources Research.

Giorgos Tsekouras received the Oikopolis award in the Energy category for his diploma thesis.

Dimitrios Bouziotas received the Papagiannakis award for his diploma thesis.

2012

Demetris Koutsoyiannis was honoured as the Invited lecturer for the Opening Ceremony of the XXXIII Conference of Hydraulics and Hydraulic Engineering (Brescia, Italy, 2012).

2011

Demetris Koutsoyiannis was honoured as the Union Plenary Speaker by the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) (Melbourne, Australia).

2009

Demetris Koutsoyiannis received the Henry Darcy Medal (2009) by the European Geosciences Union (EGU) for outstanding contributions to the study of hydrometeorological variability and to water resources management.

2000

Demetris Koutsoyiannis received the Editor’s Citation for Excellence in Refereeing from Water Resources Research.
